About GrayTell

An AI research agent that shows its work.

GrayTell is built by Anubhav Sapkota — one person, one vision. Ask a question, and the agent searches the web, reads sources, reasons through evidence, and writes a fully cited answer in real time. 30+ models across 5 providers, with an open architecture you can study on GitHub.

Mission

Make AI research transparent, accessible, and open.

Most AI tools hide their reasoning. GrayTell shows you everything — every search query, every page it read, every step of reasoning. We believe AI should be like a research assistant who leaves their notes on your desk, not a black box that hands you an answer and walks away.

What we believe

Four things we won't compromise on.

Show the working

Every answer is built in the open: the searches it ran, the pages it read, the reasoning between them. No black boxes.

Open architecture, always

How GrayTell works is documented openly on GitHub — the agent loop, the provider routing, the streaming protocol, plus weekly research papers. The app itself is a hosted product.

Weekly research papers

We publish weekly — architecture decisions, benchmarks, novel techniques. Accountability through cadence.

Multi-provider, not multi-captive

Five providers, 30+ models, one interface. If one provider goes down, the rest keep working. No single point of failure.

Our story

From an idea to a research agent with open architecture.

GrayTell started as a simple question: what if you could watch an AI research something in real time? One person, one codebase, one vision — and now the way it works is documented openly for everyone.

    GrayTell is born

Anubhav Sapkota starts building a multi-provider AI research agent — the idea: one interface, every model, real-time cited answers.

  2. 2025 · Q3

    5 providers, 30+ models

Groq, Mistral, Ollama Cloud, OpenRouter, and ZAI all wired up through a unified streaming architecture. The Ollama NDJSON-to-SSE adapter ships.
